Moving Park Competition for Downtown San Diego
So what’s a moving park? It’s a park that will be planned to be movable to different parking locations around downtown San Diego that will give life to an area for a designated amount of time. The city of San Diego and Downtown San Diego Partnership are joining together to lead this innovated idea and have come up with a design competition for everyone to participate to create this parklet design. Designs must be turned in by August 25th by 5:00 pm and the winning design will be announced Sept 1st. On September 19th, the parklet will be open and will then be able to see the winning design. The winning designer will be provided with $5000 to create these movable parks for construction materials and supplies.
There are multiple rules that you must take into consideration when creating your design. How easy will it to be to move the park and how will it be moved? It must be attractive and usable and durable. Take a look at all the RULES
