Waterfront Park Opens

Waterfront Park along the Embarcadero

After years of delay and 49.4 million dollars later, the new Waterfront Park opened this week to the public and thousands attended. The park is located in Downtown San Diego in Little Italy between Pacific Hwy / Harbor and Ash / Grape.

The 12 acre park was once 2 large parking lots where it wasn’t pleasant for the nearby residences to view. Now in their place: picnic areas, plazas and terraces, swings, themed gardens, civic greens, promenade and of course the water fountains that shoot up 12′ in the air. There are 31 water fountains with the pool being 40′ wide 830′ in length and 1″ deep. With views of the bay and downtown skyline, the waterfront park is a great place to come and entertain. You can reserve many areas of the Waterfront Park, for a small fee, by going to the Parks & Recreation department in Balboa.Waterfront Park
