I don’t know all the details but we may be getting a neighborhood shuttle soon that will be controlled through your phone. I think this is a great idea if this can be pulled off for free. Besides free, this will basically be like another Uber or Lyft but only for downtown San Diego neighborhoods.
Let’s face it, who wants to take a bus or trolley from the Gaslamp District to Little Italy? You have to wait outside for the bus and then wait till it makes all its stops before it finally reaches yours. A 10 min journey turns into an 30-hour. Grr!!
Downtown San Diego Partnership is looking into getting this going and also has a contact form for vendors that are interested in partnering with them. They want to create a mobile app that you would use to hail the shuttle. This would be a free or cheaper price than taxis. They are hoping the advertisements in and outside the shuttles will pay for the service.
I’d be curious if this is a 24 hour service or open on certain times? If this is free or cheaper than the rest, I’d support it. It would be great to show downtown condos and contact them to transport us one neighborhood to another. That would be awesome and I wouldn’t have to find parking!!
