Today we have a new San Diego council president; Sherri Lightner. A vote of 5-4 against Todd Gloria to serve another term happened yesterday while another vote was for Sherri Lightner, 7-2, to become the new president.
It was just last Friday at December Nights where I saw a happy Todd Gloria speak to thousands about being honored and happy to be our city council president and now he’s sitting on a council seat next to the new president. He served as the former interim mayor of San Diego in 2003 during the former mayor’s sexual harrasment scandal; Bob Filner.
I don’t speak about politics that much so I’ll let you guys ponder and comment about these decisions. I just hope it’s a good one for the city moving forward. Lightner represents La Jolla, UTC, Carmel Valley and Gloria represents: Downtown, Golden Hill, Hillcrest. These two areas are completely opposites of each other so I hope we all agree with our decisions!! Let’s continue to grow our fine city and our neighborhoods such as the Gaslamp District and strengthen our city even more.
